Weight Loss

Weight Management, And Metabolic Health To Achieve Improved Body Mass Index (BMI) And Lab Results

The reason we have so much success with weight loss is because we know that everyone’s reason for weight gain can be completely different. Weight gain can be the result of chronic stress and poor lifestyle choices, but for others it can be more complicated.  It’s not uncommon for us to find that some people are pre-diabetic and need assistance with handling blood sugars. Others may struggle with weight loss because of infections or conditions like Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.

Studies have found Obesity is a chronic, life-limiting disease associated with several cardiometabolic problems, which lead to significant morbidity and mortality. Over the past thirty years, increased obesity across the United States (US) and by 2030, nearly 50% of US adults are estimated to be classified as obese. With the rise in obesity there is increased rates of cardiovascular disease as well as diabetes.

Achieving weight loss of ≥5% initial weight among individuals with overweight or obesity is associated with an improved cardiometabolic disease risk profile, with reductions in blood pressure, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), triglycerides, and glycemia, as well as prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus onset. Increased percentages above 5% weight loss is associated with further cardiometabolic improvements.

Lifestyle interventions, including behavioral modification, medical nutrition therapy and physical activity, and improved sleep hygiene are fundamental to obesity management and are the first line recommendation for the prevention and treatment of excess weight and cardiometabolic disease. However, weight loss through lifestyle intervention is difficult to achieve and maintain, with weight regain remaining a common challenge.

A focused multi-disciplinary team approach working hand-in-hand to improve behavior modification via SCIENCE. We treat the patient as an individual, and not from a cookbook approach.

Advanced Care Physicians Group, P.A. program is based on scientifically proven methods and is integrity driven. Our goal is helping you achieve your goals for proper metabolic function.  The program starts with a complete medical history and evaluation to include comprehensive blood laboratory testing, and when indicated genetic testing, and is covered by most insurance companies.  There are no shakes, powders, or auto-ship gimmicks to worry about.

A well-known clinical study was performed by one of America’s top universities, Stanford University, to determine if DNA testing was effective to assist in helping people to lose weight. When compared to other well-established and effective weight loss programs, those people that were on a meal plan that was specific to their genetic profile lost 2.5 times more weight than those that were not on an individualized plan.

Education is focused on proper daily macro intake, reducing body inflammation, and maximizing your life according to your genetic profile. Lifestyle change is the key to long-term health and body function, not crash diets, therefore we build in daily as well as weekly support.

Our clinic is proud to offer a variety of FDA approved appetite suppressants and other weight loss medications. With 2 out of 3 adults overweight and 1 out of 3 adults obese, the need for weight loss intervention is great. FDA approved medication can make it easier to follow your healthy diet changes and lose weight!

Phentermine is the most commonly used appetite suppressant. It is a medication that increases metabolism and reduces hunger. The Phentermine diet pill stimulates the hypothalamus gland and affects certain neurotransmitters to decrease appetite.

Semaglutide’ (Brand Wegovy™ and Ozempic) for weight loss!

Semaglutide (glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists) is a once-a-week injection that has proven results in assisting in fat loss. The FDA approval was based on the results of the STEP (Semaglutide Treatment Effect in People with Obesity) clinical trial program, which included four clinical trials involving approximately 4,500 patients. Study:
The trials demonstrated that patients taking Semaglutide (Wegovy™ FDA approved June 2021 for Chronic weight management) achieved an average weight loss of 14.9% of body weight at 68-weeks. Study Weekly High Dose 2.4 mg Semaglutide for Weight Loss and Cardiometabolic Risk Reduction in Overweight/Obesity

In summary, this important study shows that once weekly 2.4 mg dosing of semaglutide provides safe, well-tolerated and substantial weight loss in individuals with overweight or obesity, as well as an improvement in cardiometabolic risk factors and physical function measures.

We are a multi-specialty practice that provides primary and specialty medical care, comprehensive diagnostic services, bariatric medicine (The branch of medicine that deals with the causes, prevention, and treatment of obesity), We believe weight loss requires a lifelong behavioral modification, and should not be viewed as a short-term goal or a quick fix.  We don’t view it as a mere diet either!  We take a holistic approach and focus on diet, exercise, and sleep hygiene to achieve and sustain a healthy weight goal. Patients are expected to sustain long-term weight loss goals and achieve about 90% success rate by following our doctors’ recommendations and plans.

Our weight loss program: History, physical exam, EKG test, blood work, body composition measurements, followed by private consultation with one of our Board Certified Physicians to map out a personalized plan optimized to fit your circumstances and meet your weight goals.  We will explain “Low Carb” and “Low Fat” diets and different types and approaches to each allowing you to pick one that meets your particular needs.  Ultimately weight loss is determined by calorie consumption versus calorie expenditure

HCG for Weight Loss

Human chorionic gonadotropin HCG is the glycoproteic hormone it consists of two chains, called the alpha and beta subunits. The three pituitary hormones LH (Luteinising Hormone), FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) and TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) are closely related to hCG in that all four are glycosilated and have a dimeric structure comprising the alpha and beta chains as well.

Typically, with any calorie deficient diet you shed pounds quickly; However, you lose a lot of muscle. But HCG injections prevent you from losing muscle when you diet. It does this by elevating certain hormone levels in your body (like testosterone), while the HCG hormone creates a muscle-building (anabolic) state, counteracting the muscle-breakdown (catabolic) state. Your muscle fibers have hormone receptors that respond to the increased hormone levels. HCG injections can help prevent muscle loss and provide pure fat loss, making you leaner with a more robust metabolism to help you maintain the weight loss once the HCG diet is complete. The FDA requires physicians to add the following - hCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or "normal" distribution of fat or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets. We agree that HCH is not a miracle cure however we have been utilizing HCG for our weight loss patients for over 15 years and patient have reported decreased appetite, increased muscle (or less muscle loss from dieting). Also patients have reported overall feeling of wellbeing, which is most likely from the likeness of HCG to FSH, LH, and TSH.
