Our Board Certified Physicians

Dr. Kingsley Asare, DO, MPH obtained his Pharmacy degree at St. Johns University in 1995.  He obtained his Master in Public Health degree in 2000 from University of South Florida and his Medical degree in 2007 from Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  In 2010 he completed his Internal Medicine residency and completed his Fellowship in Infectious Disease 2013. He is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. 

Dr. Michael Schaefer, DC, OMD, MD, MPH, MCAP, DACACD obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from University of the State of New York. He graduated in 1986 from Life University, College of Chiropractic Medicine with honors. He obtained his Master in Public Health degree in 2000 from University of South Florida. In 2004 he completed his Doctoral of Medicine at the University of Science, Arts, & Technology (Montserrat).  Dr. Schaefer is licensed to practice Chiropractic Medicine, and Master Certified Addiction Medicine (MCAP) in Florida, and Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in West Virginia.  In 2012 he completed his residency in Addictions and Compulsive Disorders. He is Board Certified in Addictions and Compulsive Disorders.

Internal Medicine

Internal medicine physicians are specialists who apply scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness. At least three of their seven or more years of medical school and postgraduate training are dedicated to learning how to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases that affect adults. Internists are equipped to deal with whatever problem a patient brings -- no matter how common or rare. They are specially trained to solve puzzling diagnostic problems from acute to severe chronic illnesses. They also bring to patients an understanding of wellness, women's health, substance abuse, mental health, as well as effective treatment of common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system and reproductive organs.

Infectious Disease

An infectious disease (ID) specialist is a doctor of internal medicine who is qualified as an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases and HIV. Training consists of five or more years after graduation from medical school. ID specialists have expertise in the entire body from internal medicine training as well as being an expert in diagnosis and treatment of bacteria, viral, parasitic, and fungal Infections of the sinuses, heart, brain, lungs, urinary tract, bowel, bones, wounds, and pelvic organs. Your ID visit will include a review of your medical data, including records, X-rays and laboratory reports. Then a physical examination. Laboratory studies are often necessary and may include blood studies and cultures of wounds or body fluids.

Addiction Medicine

Addiction Medicine specialist is qualified as an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of addictions and compulsive disorders. They have advanced knowledge in understanding, preventing, diagnosing and treating addiction and co-occurring medical and mental disorders. With new drugs of abuse added to an already long list of drugs of abuse, the field of addiction medicine is ever-changing. The addiction specialist must be prepared to navigate a new and challenging terrain, and help patients find the sunshine in the clouds.
